What surprises me is that Cal is as difficult to get into as Stanford. Think of the limited recruiting pool.

Difficult yes, but not on par with Stanford. Iowa surprises me the most with Rutgers close behind.

I can't imagine picking Cal over Stanford. Having been to both places and mingled with both groups, Stanford has a relatively "normal" student body. Everyone at Cal is a fricking pothead tree hugger that enjoys the smell of their own farts. Both places are liberal but Cal-Berkley is full of fricking weirdos.
