He doesn't tell that to everyone. He told one rich man to do that in order to make a point and also to test his faith. God chooses to bless those who bless others. If I became rich, and I chose to do works for the kingdom and for the poor with my money, then I would be blessed with more. That idea can best be described in the parable of the talents.

Noooooo. Jesus NEVER said that. he told the rich young ruler that HE should give away his possessions and follow Him(Jesus). Why? because Jesus knew the rich young ruler loved his money and possessions more than anything else in the world. But He was speaking to one person in particular in that case.

If you are talking about another instance, then I'm sorry. Please give me a reference and I will look it up.
