Three things I really liked about the game.

First, no special teams gaffs! Seriously, punts and FGs all as planned. No run backs for a score.
Second, no fumbles. We did have a lateral dropped, which I guess counts as a fumble, but 22 was trusted with the ball in the 4th and held on tight. Murray gets blindsided in the end zone and it costs us 2 not 6.
Lastly, no bonehead passes by 11. This was his best statistical game against the Gators, with the exception of the 2nd half when UF got some serious momentum going. That last drive was prototypical Murray and is why championships or not he's a DGD.

Agreed.
The decision to pooch kick was good. When we kicked off deep, they got a pretty good return.

Can a kickoff be a punt? Seems like a punt would have better hang time than a kickoff and a 45 yd punt with no return would be great against a team that could run back TDs.

I don't now for sure, but I don't think so. I think it has to be kicked off the ground/tee.
I'll qualify my previous post by saying that the short kicks were good based on our current special teams setup.
What I'd like to see is a special teams coach that can get our players ready to make the plays so we don't have to kick off like that against good return teams. Feels like using the bumpers while bowling.

I've got to be honest, I'm not sure why everyone isn't kicking it to the 15-20 knowing that your kickoff team can get there well before they can get the ball and get a good run going.
