I'm seeing rumors that Matt Joeckel will graduate and then go play for Rice.
If that's the case, and Johnny leaves, we only have Hill and Allen.

We've still got McQueen and Feist. Surely one of them is a future Heisman in the making. Always got RSJ if we really need him.

Just run whatever Auburn does. HB dive left, HB dive right, zone read.

this sounds like a fairly inane rumor. Rice has many great grad programs. Matt is a very smart guy and his dad is an attorney so I'm sure he very much values getting his education. However, he's a MKTG major so a lot of things don't add up here:
- A&M's MBA program is more highly thought of than Rice's (though both are pretty good)
- Rice doesn't have a law school so if he has plans to follow his father's path, that's not there
- Rice runs a spread option offensive attack. McHargue has 104 rushes this year many of which are options (Manziel only has 96 rushes). Joeckel does not fit that at all
- Rice has a SO QB that hasn't played much as McHargue has had a good season but he played a bit (and well) last year. He's an exceptionally good fit for their offense
- despite the internet gurus belief, Matt has a shot to start next year. I'm sure the coaches would rather see Hill or Allen progress but if not Matt could be the guy. He's a game manager more than a gunslinger but game managers can be successful in this offense (see basically every single Tech QB ever)

If Joeckel does leave then I'd say yes. 2 scholarship QBs is risky

I doubt we offer another QB but I could see us pushing for a preferred walk on that has ship offers at FCS/low FBS schools. Esp a kid from one of the big Spread attack schools in Texas (Lake Travis, Southlake Carroll, etc.)

It's incredibly risky...and we're not taking another QB in this class so you can read into that what you will.

Johnny will stay, so we will be good
