Where Are The Tigers Vulnerable?

Missouri's been playing so well on both sides of the ball since conference play began, it's hard to nitpick and/or complain about areas of weakness. Nevertheless, you can bet upcoming opponents are concocting attack plans to knock 'em off.

Special teams, QB play.
Mauk could have easily thrown 4 INT's last week. We were all happy with the outcome, could go another way though if his decision making doesn't improve a bit.

Mental breakdown. Can they keep playing at this higher level through games that they sbould win, or will they stumble abit and play down to other teams levels, much like the early non con games? Physicaly, they seem to be weathering well. But it's the mental aspect that makes me wonder. We really haven't seen it yet in conference play. The Tennessee game is the one that does worry me alittle. How will they handle a game that is within 3 points ir closer all the way through and down to the wire? This could be a posibility in a SEC CG.

Our secondary still makes me nervous. I think the outstanding pass rush has obviously made better but if SC is happy with the little dump passes like they were last year, they could move the ball effectively.
On the flip side it's Mauk. He's still raw. He has a tendency of running backwards at the first sign of trouble. While he's good on his feet, he is no JFF. I'm concerned if Clowney gets pressure on him he'll either throw the INT or will put us in a 3rd and 30 situation by running backwards trying to get away.

Toledo showed our vulnerability to a well executed outside screen pass. This is generally a reflection of shortcomings at linebacker and corner.
I also agree with the above statements regarding Mauk's decision making. It is reminiscent of Franklin's first year (remember the first half of Mizzou v. kU in 2011?).

Besides the things that have been mentioned, I'll say the DTs. Teams with a good RB can hurt us up the middle. If you noticed, the one Florida TD drive was 6 plays, mostly right up the middle for chunks of yards each time. For some inexplicable reason, they went back to the air the next time they had the ball. This happened in the Georgia game too. South Carolina has a great RB (Evans, I think), and I hope our DTs and line backers can step up to stop that guy.
I'm also concerned a bit about the secondary, and a lot about Mauk. He's still a RSfreshman, prone to mistakes, and this is a good team he's going to see Saturday. This will be a tougher game. If our OL doesn't have an answer, Clowney will get in Mauk's head and make for a long day.

We need to tackle better. Letting runners and receivers get so many yards after first contact is not acceptable.

Run plays up the middle. Our team plays so well on the perimeter but look what Georgia did to us when they ran the ball straight up the gut.

When I posted this thread, these were my thoughts exactly.
1) Fearful of a team sticking with the run, particularly up the middle.
2) A lesser concern about the secondary.
3) Do they have the answer to mitigate Clowney.
4) Will Maty Mauk's gunslinging ways lead to game changing interceptions.
I'm watching a repeat of the SC-Tennessee game and Clowney has been unblockable in the early going. He made three separate plays that were jaw dropping. Made a TE blocker whiff and killed the QB, overpowered the LT and crushed the QB, and moved laterally to the interior of the Tenn line to destroy a running play.
They also gashed Tenn with a big run up the middle by a back named Mike Davis in the early going.
My hope is Tigers jump out an early lead again so or DE's can do their work. Or minus that, that the Ol' Ball Coach can't help himself and passes away.
Regardless, this Missouri team is incredibly balanced - and explosive - on offense. If Mauk doesn't get crazy and Henson doesn't lose sight of the running game, I still like our chances.
They haven't scored under 30 yet, so a Missouri total over that bodes well for Saturday, IMO...

I will say Penton did a pretty good job and stopping those passes for losses or little gain. Will him and Gaines play at the same time? Will Gaines play?

Defensive ends. They are not pulling their weight this year.

As the game wore on, though, they figured out how to block him and he was less of a factor. Still a disruptive presence, definitely, but less so. Our OL play is going to be critical, especially on the left side.
Mike Davis will hurt us if we don't get good play from the tackles and the linebackers.
This is going to be a tougher game, IMO. I'm not confident. Hopeful, not confident - I like our chances.

I am more nervous about the following games than this one. If the players come in with their heads right we can beat South Carolina.
Ole Miss in the deep south scares me the most of our remaining I think.
