There's also the point though that if a kid knows where he wants to go and wants to get all the attention off of him, signing early would allow him to do that and focus on his SR year.

Then he can sign the scholarship papers as a symbolic gesture and tell the other recruiters/media to stop calling him. Most attention is brought on by the recruits themselves. That's not always the case, but for the highest rated players, their senior seasons will attract a ton of attention anyway.

Basically, I'm willing to risk a few recruits dealing with a little unwanted attention if it means other recruits won't get stuck with decisions they'll regret.

Isn't this what Saban has their kids sign that says if they back out they can't sign with another SEC school?

Unless he signs something that binds him to the school, there will always be speculation about him flipping. I was more talking about attention from other schools than media.

You don't have to sign in the early period. We shouldn't have to set up rules to keep people from harming themselves. If you make a mistake too bad. Learn from it. A few recruits shouldn't be hurt because others don't know the pros/cons of signing early.
