JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - The Ole Miss Athletic Foundation plans to borrow almost $80 million to build a parking garage and basketball arena that could cost up to $100 million.

The College Board approved plans Thursday for the University of Mississippi to lease 8.3 acres on the west side of Vaught-Hemingway Stadium to the foundation.

The parking garage, costing up to $15 million, would be finished before class begins in fall 2014. The arena, which would cost up to $85 million would be done by January 2016.

Ugh.

I know we need a new basketball arena.

I just really hope it pays off enough in recruiting to make us consistent winners because that's A LOT of money to blow on a traditionally not-great-or-even-good program.

Does this mean sooner rather than later in regards to starting construction?

SEC Network money borrowing?

Needs to be done. Just build it so it can eventually hold 16K or so.

Yeah you just don't get one without the other. You aren't going to develop a consistent winner in basketball taking the recruits to that piece of junk 30+ year old Tad Pad. I'm excited about it.

Didn't we just raise $100 million for this?

Where is that money going?
