Seems to me that somebody is playin' the "Me too!" game. Are you seriously so butt-hurt that you're willin' to share a spot as the state's flagship university? When you're a big boy an' can own that position, come back an' talk to us.

What does this even mean?
The bulk of flagship status is about research quality and output.
Dollars.
Money begets money. In The Great State, we're all about bettering the research agenda of any of our universities (though at present, none other than the two flagships are close to reaching said status).
Spreading the knowledge wealth is the best way to increase it.
