I don't think he was putting the loss squarely on Mett. It's obvious there were several things you can point at. He's just saying Mett had a chance to make a play and didn't....
That said, to the original topic of the tread, Manziel seems to have a lot more competition this year than last. It's Murray, Boyd, Mariotta as opposed to fricking Collin Klein and Manti Teo. I know it's early, and guys usually drop out of the race come October and November, but I could very easily see Johnny not win it because there are too many other guys around that he can lose votes to. And if the voters need a tie-breaker between multiple close contenders, you can bet that spite can and will have something to do with it.
