What I'm getting from alot of yall is that the pass rush is good, but if UGA's OL gets a decent block scheme on the front 4 and lets Gurley through, it's going to be a bloodbath?

I doubt it, honestly. Georgia's offensive scheme seems to play better into LSU's defense than some of these spread-option attacks. I fully expect Ego and Freak to hold the interior of the line, and the DE's and OLBs to contain the edges. This defense is as fast as prior LSU defenses, and can string out any sweeps etc.

Where we've had a lot of trouble this season is with inexperience and knowing gap-control on read-options. As stated, the team is fast, but they've been sucked out of position a whole lot by misdirections (chasing the QB and the RB cuts back through a hole), and then getting tentative in up-the-gut runs due to the above misdirections.

I don't see the Dawgs as a team that will run a lot of that stuff. I think it will be pretty clear where you are trying to run, and it's a matter of our defense being able to stand up to it... I think we have the best talent you've yet faced along those lines. I expect Gurley will get hit a lot, as one defender will grab him and slow him down for another 2 to hit, on most plays. Very few 1-1 tackles (but that's been lSU's MO for years).

Our pass rush hasn't yet shown to be that intense, but we've also not shown a lot of the weirder blitzes we normally use. That might change this game, look for us to go nickel and send either a nickel or a safety to force the play.

The last three practice periods at UGA that were open to the media, UGA was running the option.

I think yall are almost as good as Carolina's front 4.

I think that would work wonders against a young qb or OL, but this UGA OL and qb are veterans, and will be looking for the weird blitzes.

I agree in this sense: I think that's exactly what Grantham should do against LSU.

As good as Ego and Freak are, they are two people. When 3 veteran offensive lineman decide to tangle them up for the 1.14 seconds it takes for Gurley to get by, even if they are holding and holding is on every play, only Bama gets away with it, maybe UGA gets away with some of it, and god forbid our fullback on a lead, how effective can two guys be if the middle linebacker is undersized and the other two linebackers are on the edge? I'm not saying Gurley is going to score a touchdown every time he gets the ball, but the two solid interior guys have to be backed up by a lot more.
