Will LSU's Program Fizzle Once Miles Leaves?

It's also true that historically every successful program has ups and downs. Just look at Alabama in the mid-late 80s and the late 90s and early 2000s. LSU in the 80s and 90s.

Ahem. In the 1980s, LSU had 7 winning seasons, went to 6 bowls games, had 3 Top 10 teams and 6 top 25 teams.
Even in the 1990s, LSU won 26 games and 3 straight bowl wins from 1995-97.

Before Saban came to Baton Rouge, LSU was 12th all-time in # of victories, and 10th in bowls.
Today, LSU is 11th in victories and 8th in bowls, and is the winningest team in the last 8 years and 2nd winningest in the last 13.

There was no football at LSU before 2000.
