Part of a longer story from SC newspaper, basically Clowney throwing the rest of the team under the bus, saying UGA just ran away from him and the rest of the defense didn't step up.

What a selfish bastard.

quote:

USC defensive coordinator Lorenzo Ward said the Gamecocks coaching staff talked about Georgia's keep-away strategy at halftime. They tried to make adjustments. Clowney lined up at right and left defensive end in the second half. For the second straight game, he was at nose guard – in the middle of USC's defensive line.

Nothing worked.

“I'd hate to evaluate him,” Ward said after the game Saturday night. “I know he had a sack, and I thought he played hard, but everything went away from him. They ran the ball away from him the entire day.

“We've got other players on this team other than JD who have to step up and play.”

For USC, that's no surprise. The Gamecocks knew entering the season other players – such as senior defensive end Chaz Sutton and junior tackle Kelcy Quarles – had to hold their end. So far, they haven't. Sutton has seven tackles, 2.5 for loss with no sacks. Quarles has six tackles and just one sack. The linebackers are young and inexperienced, and it's showed.

After the game Saturday, coach Steve Spurrier said he'll talk with Ward this week. There will be defensive changes, something he reiterated during Sunday's teleconference – though Spurrier said he didn't want to “spill all the beans” on what would be different.

One thing's clear: finding a way to get Clowney more involved will be at the heart of USC's adjustments.

It won't be easy. Now, there's a blueprint, a proven way to limit Clowney's havoc. When USC hosts Vanderbilt on Saturday night in Columbia, it will likely face the same game plan it defended the past two weeks.

The fact is, UGA didn't run away from him. They ran wherever the hell they felt like.

In separate comments from Clowney that we've already seen, him throwing his team under the bus for his own inability to make big plays is selfish.

Yea and that was to the side Clowney wasn't on.

Clowney's comments while not particularly smart, weren't malicious or "throwing his team under the bus". Fact is nobody on the defense went into Athens ready to play and UGA gameplanned around Clonwey to prevent him from making a major impact.

He still had a sack and he still forced UGA to run to the opposite side of the field but our entire defense was pathetic.

Cocksessed, itsnotarivalry.jpeg, thanks for losing to Auburn-lite, link? and you're out of your element.

Pretty much had their way with him. Running teams just abuse a player like that.

You can put down the crack pipe anytime now. They didn't run all there plays away from clowney. However, the rest of our line ain't doing shite right at the moment so teams are running away from clowney and the times they aren't they are blocking him with 2-3 bodies. That is all. Anyway as bad as our defense looked there was probably about two shitty coaching plays by our offense and special teams that made us look that much worse. The special teams blunder where our linbackers weren't near the ball and the 4th and goal call we're stupid as hell but hey can't win if you don't take chances.

Clowney is a big arse crybaby. Poor ole Clowney having to face double teams and runs that go straight at him. Man up Clowney and do your talking on the field. You seem to be costing yourself a few million dollars every time you show up and do nothing.
