I haven't heard anyone say that there is anything wrong with being proud of NWA. The problem is calling the rest of the state backwards or poor or ugly. Which is spread throughout this thread and creeps into every GSD thread.

I never called the rest of the state backwards, poor or ugly. I have pointed out that the Delta is poor and backwards. Whether anyone likes it or not, the socio economic numbers, the challenges of attracting teachers to work in that area and the fact a lot of the young people who do get an education and are from the Delta leave for other areas. The Walton Foundation has invested millions of dollars in trying to help re-energize that region and I hope it improves significantly. It is a depressed area.

I would love for the Delta, hell the whole the state to be wildly successful. Why? Because someone else's success doesn't harm me, my family, hometown or area. It actually makes our state better off. But ignoring the challenges or areas for improvement does nothing but allow the status quo to continue.

I do find hypocritical the jealousy some people (I don't believe it's a majority) have towards NWA. The manner in which those people talk bad about the area but are all too willing to accept money from here is kinda funny.

The rest of the state can rail on about the evils of NWA and the virtues of South Arkansas or vice versa for all I care. It just shows we don't need a rival when we have so much fun fighting with each other.

Sorry SLC I didn't mean to imply you were personally saying that, just that there is a common theme in these threads where posters trash the rest of the state. The most frustrating thing about this GSD garbage is that it needlessly divides the fan base . I know I am looking forward to the day when all the games are in Fayetteville.
