Go to the University of Houston for a good idea of what an "urban campus" is. It sucks. Hard.

Well yeah it's in an absolutely awful part of Houston.

On the other hand how about Rice? Right smack in the middle of West U, the Medical Center. I would say its very nice and far from being awful.

Rice is a good example. Love that area and proximity to Hermann Park, the Village, etc. Also has some of the nicest oaks in Houston.

My only complaint with the campus is that it is a bit small. That being said, it certainly gives the feel of a stand alone campus with the amenitites of the large city nearby.

College of Charleston is another one that seemingly stands alone in more of a city environment (if Charleston can be classified as a city).
