Locking up the state does need to be a priority, but it has to be ONLY for talent we truly believe will start at Mizzou.

I will still contend that much of the talent is "soft" in St. Louis.

Dave Matter just wrote an article about the fact that there are no starters from St. Louis.

Ronnie Wingo didn't start at Arky. There was even talk that he wanted to transfer but was denied.

Let's take one of the best rated linemen to come out of Missouri, Nick Dimein. The red shirt JR could only muster up to 2nd string, just before informing the coaches that he plans to graduate in May.

Robert Steeples transferred to Memphis because he knew he wouldn't get much playing time.

Let's look at the 4star blow outs in the state. Justin McCay signed with OU, got buried and asked to tranfer to Mizzou but was denied. He's now at kU. Dan Tapko went to OU and quit after a year. He's now going to school at Mizzou, but out of football.

What about 4star Darrien Miller and Keston Terry? We never offered to the rage of many Tiger fans. Where are they now?

OTOH, Danario Alexander living 30mi south of Baylor was a 2star unknown. Sean Witherspoon was a 2star out of Houston. Now he's a Pro-bowler. Same goes for Ziggy Hood. Few colleges ever bother to recruit Amarillo.

Agree. There are always going to be more misses than hits. That's the nature of the beast. But there are still quality players coming out of STL. Already talked about Gabbert, Richardson and Maclin. Montee Ball. Isaac Byrd. Atiyyah Ellison. Terrell Fletcher. Reggie Germany. Lawrence Maroney. Damien Nash. Adrian Clayborn. Like it or not, Wingo is getting a look in the NFL, so you can't discount him as a player. Durron Neal? Probably too early to tell. Jehu Chesson? Think he's a slated starter at Michigan as a RSF or Soph. Ezekiel Elliott? I think I read he already showed enough that he's looking at getting time as a true freshman at tOSU.

So there are still some players that have solid careers to go along with the Nick Dimien's of the world.
