... but didn't stick around for another practice. Just had too much to do.
But as far as the meeting was concerned, GA Mangus spoke to us tonight, he was good. Seemed really excited about this coming season. Feels confident in our QBs. Thanked us for all of the financial support to the program. Said we've come a long ways from the days of losing in the Papa John's Bowl when he first arrived and reminded us of how horrible that was. Said we're almost there facility-wise and that once the new indoor practice facility is completed will have facilities on-par or better than anyone we recruit against. He said they are trying to hold the players back from peaking too early before the UNC game but the players are tired of hitting each other and they are ready to take some frustrations out on UNC. So the coaches are trying to reign them in and not let them out of the gate too soon - they want them to be angry and hungry come next Thursday.
Said some other things to one or two of us privately but we've been sworn to secrecy so I am not putting it on a message board but suffice it to say we are in really good shape right now in all facets of the program - especially football.
We ate BBQ, catered out of Aiken, beef brisket and pork. It was excellent. Couldn't take the wife so I had to meet her for drinks afterwards, we just got home. Got an email from one of the guys who attended and he said I didn't miss anything so there must not have been much going on at practice except the same old stuff.
G.A. was a good speaker though - he did well, sort of surprised me.

Is the indoor facility still on target to open January of '15?

He said it was running behind. Said that between that and the beautification project scheduled to be completed right around the stadium, which is going to come later than we hoped, that they are both coming just lagging behind a bit - but he said he wasn't the guy to talk to about that stuff but that - things are coming along nicely.
They are hoping the indoor facility will be their Christmas present for 2014 though - but doubt it is going to happen by December 2014 or January 2015.
The fields are going to be finished a lot early than that actual indoor facility.

I haven't been following this too closely, so forgive me if this is common knowledge, but what are they going to do with the current fields when the other ones open up for use?

The national guard wants their land back and thats what our current practice fields are on. They are building new ones next to where the indoor practice facility is suppose to go I believe

Huh, thanks for the info.

This is possibly a stupid question, but USC doesn't own that land?

No we are leasing it, and the guard wanted it back a year ago, from my understanding. So that's why it's important this project gets back on track.
