SCU to 17 points.

SCU ran a 4-2-5 so they had 5 speedy defensive backs to cover the spread, and complete monsters on the DL with Quarles, Sutton, and Clowney. Taj didn't have a chance to throw the ball because the receivers were well covered by formation alone. The 4 linemen collapsed the pocket inside of 2 seconds on pretty much every play and the two linebackers just had to stand there and pretty much spy Boyd.

Our defense isn't set up that way. Maybe 3 of our front 7 are going to be All Americans, and we'll get the same result.

But I just don't know.

That's the key to beating clemson's hurry-up spread offense. If you can get pressure on Boyd with 4 guys and the rest of the guys are covering, then that collapses their whole system. If you give Boyd time, he'll find someone open or take off to run. If you can get to him before he's complete his checks, he'll end up on his back.

Clowney set the Death Valleyeast stadium record for Sacks in a single game last year with 4.5.
