Huge great white shark circles not-so-big boat

Sorry if already posted.
A few men out fishing and great white circles boat. My knees would've been knocking, they 're laughing and cracking jokes.
One of the guys jokingly ask if its illegal to shoot it... If it is illegal, why?
If i feel threatned by another person, in a lot of situations I can legally shoot that person.
You're telling me if I'm in the middle of the ocean and a great white bigger than my boat starts circling me, I can't shoot it? Sheesh... Whateva! Lol (I kid)

If you are in the water and that thing decides you aren't going to live anymore, there is absolutely jack shite you can do about it. Sharks are fricking scary. That movie Open Water scared the Jesus out of me.

The shark wasn't threatening the boat. It's kind of like a dog investigating. A dog will sniff your butt... a shark will circle something to try to figure out what it is.

Wow I would like to get in a cage someday with some sort of shark but I would be pretty scared with an 18ft great white circling my boat.

They weren't in any danger. The boat is still bigger than the shark even though it's a small boat.

I would have started freaking out and almost call 9-1-1.....and then realize how stupid that is on so many levels.
