Not sure if true...

but someone said in another thread that Spurrier has plans to have plays where Dylan and Connor are in the game at the same time? Both in the backfield? Idk, I wouldn't want Connor trying to block blitzing LBs.
Interesting to think about though, since both can throw and run pretty well. People will say Connor is a better runner and Dylan the better passer, I would agree, but Dylan is athletic enough to make runs (3rd & 19 @ Clempson) and Connor is a proven thrower (20 straight comps vs. Mizzou). Thoughts?

If it happens, then one of them (probably Shaw) will line up in the slot for a possible pass back.
Highly doubt you have to worry about Shaw blocking in the backfield, what would be the point in having him out there?

Having two capable QBs in the backfield? Element of surprise I guess. I think defenses generally know what they are gonna get with either Dylan OR Connor, but would be guessing all night if it were Dylan AND Connor. Still wouldn't want this to go down though ha. I think Connor is still getting 75% or more of the snaps.

Earlier during the offseason, there was talk about having both Connor and Dylan on the field together, with Connor lining up as a receiver. Connor played receiver in HS, and he said he'd be fine with running some plays like that...
During Spurrier's Media Day Golf outing he has every year with the local media (just after the SEC Media Days has completed), he made some comment about having both Connor and Dylan lining up side-by-side in the shotgun behind the center, and talking about how no one would know who the center would snap the ball to. Don't know if he was being facetious about it, or if we will actually run some plays like that, but we won't know of course until the season actually starts...

This would be such a threat to opposing defenses.

The play that would fake out the D Coor's would have to line them up like that, but have Dylan do a delayed sneak, when Shaw breaks off to do a wheel route. As soon as the LB's see the ball go to Dylan, they'll think pass, and when Shaw runs towards the sideline, the OLB will be responsible to cover. So Dylan will go for the strong side and hopefully the TE picks up the other LB and we get a nice 10 yard pickup.

It sounds like a huge liability with the potential of turning the ball over, injuring both of our starting qbs, and adding extra grass stains to the OBC's brand new white under armour visor. Possibly a season diminishing implosion all in a single snap.

Not to mention the coordinated gasp from the entire crowd in Williams-Brice as a result of the injury would effectively suck all the oxygen out of the air, thus killing the entire teams of both schools playing that day, the cheerleader squads, and Sir Big Spur as well....

I think that would only be the case if there was a simultaneous solar eclipse.

I've heard it mentioned several times now but I cannot agine the benefit of doing so.
Lining Connor Shaw up at WR or in the slot would be a waste IMHO. Defenses these days are not easily fooled by the obvious, again IMHO.

yeah my point was that you don't have to worry about Shaw or Dylan blocking a LB. They wouldn't be put out there together with the plan that one of them is going to block. I'm pretty sure Spurrier isn't stupid.

Yep, Shaw is tough and all, but a guy llike CJ Mosley would rock the hell out of him if he tried to block him.

Man, when I reread my posts that I make on the road from my phone some times ... sheeeesh, autocorrect can sure screw a post up in a hurry.
autocorrect is becoming a bit of an oxymoron to me, IMHO.
Anyways, I cannot imagine any scenario in which jogging Thompson onto the field and moving Shaw to WR or RB would work.
Conversely - I can imagine some situations where putting Clowney in the slot or at FB might work.

Clowney at RB would be one of the best deceptive moves we could make. People would think he's about to carry it on short yardage like the Fridge and then we could hit the pass. The LB's would be hyper-focused on him.
