Why is this so damn hard to accept?

I guess people feel strongly about their unique state football team and the historical significance of its mascot.

To understand all this, you must understand the South Carolinian(difficult but doable). We are a fiery bunch man, started the Civil War for goodness sake. Much like a gamecock, if you will. I think it fits extremely well, whereas, bulldogs... idk maybe you can tell me why it fits besides the Yale history previously mentioned.

Georgia, named after King George, English Bulldog, stout, known for their ferocity in dire situations.

frick if I know, but who do we really have to compete with? MSU? Fresno State? At least we're easily the most recognizable Bulldogs out there

I think I'm gonna call up PETA and complain about your mascot. It is very disturbing to me that you would use that mascot to promote the illegal activity of fighting animals.
