Being from St. Louis, I thought I'd update those that haven't followed him, that Wacha got called back up to the big team last week and looked solid through 5 innings, giving up only 2 runs. He was in line for the win and the bullpen blew it for him.

He really has only had 1 poor outing where he gave up 6 ER's in 4 2/3.

Wacha is a beast. I wish he could have somehow ended up in Houston, but I'm glad he's in St Louis. They run their organization extremely well, so he really couldn't ask for a better situation.

I'm excited about the Cards future with these young and talented players stocking our system.

to A&M for sending this guy our way.

Hopefully by stealing Jeff Luhnow away from the Cards will help the 'Stros get back on track. If that happens, we'll call it even

I still hate the fact that the Astros moved out of the NL.

As for Wacha...he was apparently a much sought after commodity around the trade deadline. Most of the trade rumors I heard, the other teams would bring his name up. The organization thinks highly enough of him that they wouldn't deal him.

It seems weird that the Astros aren't in the NL Central.

However, y'all must admit that they more or less suck more often than not.

The Astros tiny ball park and outfield fits better in the AL. It's a hitter's ball park.

I grew up with the 96-2005 Stros so I am actually used to them being pretty good from my childhood. Minute Maid is definitely an AL park though, I agree

I was fixing to say the Astros were in contention if not winning the central for the better part of a decade. Fell on some rough times IMO trying to find their identity after the Bagwell and Biggio era. (Used to love Biggio btw. Right up there with Chipper Jones as favorite non-Cardinals)

dude, it makes me mad too. But the baseball Gods felt that they needed to move.

If they still had the Killer B's...I'd be much more upset.

Yeah, I started following baseball and really knowing players names around 95 or 96 when I was about 8 years old and Biggio and Bagwell were my favorites. The Astros went to the World Series my senior year of high school. They won 4 division titles in there and had 6 playoff appearances i believe. So that's what I remember, unfortunately kids growing up in Houston now will not have the same experience.

Drayton mortgaged the future from 06-09ish so he could basically field 70-80 win teams with the misguided vision that they could compete for a playoff spot, which was never realistic. I think Luhnow is doing a great job building but it will be 2016 before they can realistically think about competing and dipping into FA.

Biggio is my favorite MLB player ever. Can't wait for him to get inducted

I'm older than most in here but the Stros have a long history of being pretty decent, never great. Even back in the 80s with only 2 divisions, we were a factor almost every year (though rarely won it). The Biggio/Bagwell days were a prolonged period of success but as with all things, it comes to an end at some point.

I can live with a few rebuilding years. I can't live with the AL. At all. In all my life, I've never watched a complete regular season AL game on tv while probably averaging 50 NL games a year. I live in an AL city and I go to 3-4 games a year but mostly just to drink and bs. I don't care who wins. In all seriousness, I haven't watched a game this year and I'm not sure if I'll go back to MLB.

Sure was nice watching the Rangers sweep them these past few days. Needed it to catch Oakland. Thanks Bud.

Huge rangers fan, went to the first game in the ballpark in Arlington when I was 4. It's funny to think about those that are younger than me thinking the rangers have always been contenders and the Astros have always been bad. When it's quite the opposite

I'm not sure how many already still follow him or how many simply don't care, so feel free to tell me to shut up on him already, but I'm a big fan of his and hope he does well. And yes, I know it's football season.

Anyways, sitting here drinking a cold one, watching a 0-0 game that Wacha started for us tonight. Cards starting pitching has struggled as of late and we truly needed a strong start from someone. So far Wacha has done just that. 3 hits, no runs so far.

Guys ERA is a little inflated because of just a couple of outings, but he has 37 K's as compared to 9 BB's.
