Richt......
quote:

Clowney is the best football player anywhere in the entire solar system. Maybe, even in the whole galaxy.(paraphrase)

Spurrier......
quote:

“I don’t know what he’s trying to say. But if he’s trying to fatten up Jadeveon’s thinking, I hope it doesn’t work."

Richt......

“We’ve got a tremendous schedule this year, we know,” Richt said. “I don’t hear Coach Spurrier complaining about it this year.”

Spurrier's probably just saving his response for Sept. 7

But, that's pretty un-Spurrier-like, isn't it?

And that's my whole point.

It's always seemed to me that the more confident SPurrier is in his team.........the more shite he talks. But, this year he's been pretty quiet.

Uh..... oh.................

hell, he went after a team that was in the national championship at SEC Media Days instead of the team we've beaten the past 3 years, seems he's taking his aim a little bit higher to me

Spurrier beat Georgia at FLorida more than three times.....and he never took his foot off the gas once when it came to making arrogant digs.......

I'm telling you......I can see it in Spurrier's face that there's something of concern that he knows, but most of us don't know yet.

I do understand your motivation for discounting this and rationalizing it away though. It's perfectly natural for you to do that.

Please....Saint Richt has a long ways to go to catch up, with that weak sauce.....

Or............ maybe it's so weak........ that it's actually genius!

I heard Spurrier on the radion and on TV and in print spending a lot of time trying to downplay Richt's "praise" for Clowney. Hmmmmmm........ Maybe, he was so busy doing that......that he didn't have time to get his usual UGA digs in this year.

Dont feel bad because yall are being left out. Spurrier has been taking some shots this off season.

Big one at Notre Dame. Several at Clemson.

He also said that spiking the ball is what you do in that situation after the 2012 SECCG so I guess yall haven't been totally left out.

Those all sound pretty boring. I'm talking about the absence of classic arrogant Spurrier zingers here.

So....either Richt subtly put him on the defensive with his well-timed Clowney "praise"......or maybe Spurrier's just getting old and he's losing his touch.

End of an era.

Maybe seeing the effect years of vitriol has had on Richt, causing him to turn from a mild-mannered, god-fearing man of respect and honor to a vile, despicable cad who would dare to voice his filth to the world, has humbled Spurrier into changing his ways for the better?

Or... he realizes that wasn't a dig, or an attempt to expand Clowney's ego in the hope that effects his game, but Richt's own fear of Clowney bleeding through. He's as scared as Murray is, he's just going about voicing it a different way.

This is what makes Richt's comment about Clowney being the best football player in the Milky Way..... such a genius move.

Because of his aw-shucks delivery and mild-mannered persona....Richt can lay these obvious traps out in broad daylight, but still nobody notices it. That's true genius right there. NOt just a coach being funny and yucking it up with some sports reporters with some digs.....

DO you think Richt would want one of his players hearing from another coach that he's the greatest football player in the galaxy? Of course he wouldn't. ANd neither would any other coach. And we have proof that Spurrier doesn't like it.....because he's constantly trying to temper and soften the hype around this great player.....for very understandable reasons.

Anyway. The more I think about it.............

I wouldn't know........

I stopped watching that game after the middle of the 2nd quarter.

Sidenote: Gurley and Marshall are two separate individuals. And that nickname is an insult. I'd hate it too if I were them. Or one of them. You know what i mean........

You missed a heck of a game....

I vividly remember being hunched over, stunned, in my chair......studying the grain of the hard-wood floor beneath my feet............feeling ashamed at having knocked over a plant and shattering it's pot into a thousand pieces..... by way of my hat hitting it after I took it off and chunked it upwards into my living room ceiling fan out of disgust.............

But, that's in the past. And I'm over it now.

Pay back's a bitch.
