I used to like Davenport until I realized that his updates were essentially all the same. "[insert recruit] enjoyed his visit and came away impressed with Arkansas's facilities. He said he really liked Coach [insert lead recruiter]."

Could someone give me an example of a "good" recruiting writer? I just don't see the outrage over RD. He provides his shite for free. If anything, it looks like he just regurgitates whatever the recruits tell him...which is exactly what he should be doing. Otis and his ilk are the ones who run stories and assign arbitrary predictions based on nothing but their gut feeling or "sources."

I didn't rage against Davenport, just passed along that I used to follow his updates until I made that realization.

I wouldn't read Otis if his son was the recruit in question -- he's always been a know-nothing. His height/weight embellishment was legendary. I can't count how many DEs and LBs we were on who were 6-3, 240 and showed up in the media guide a year later at 6-1, 215. Reading an Otis Kirk height/weight is like listening to a fishing story from your grandfather, always subtract a few inches and pounds.

Not really.

Since he's been employed by the ADG, his articles require a subscription to read on line or you paying whatever they charge for the print version today.

His radio spots and tweets are no different than the recruiting sites give as far as "free info", its free once its "old news".

Since he landing the job at the ADG he no longer posts info on message boards or answers questions like he did before hand.
