QB - Wallace, Brunetti, ?
RB - Scott, Mathers, Walton, Dodson
WR1 - Moncreif, Treadwell, Adebedejo
WR2 - Sanders, Logan
Slot - Moore, Mireles, Neat
TE - Moore, ?
LT - McCray, Tunsil
LG - Morris, Duke
C - Swindol, ?
RG - Bell, Junen
RT - Burton, Gholson
DE - Whigam, Nkemdichie, Thompson
DE - Johnson, Ward, ?
DT - Bennett, Hooks, ?
NT - Gross, Hamilton, Martin
MIKE - Marry, Shack, Strong
STING - Denzel, Lewis, Bryant
HUSKY - Hilton, Connor
BCB - Sawyer, Collins, ?
FCB - Golson, Standifer, ?
ROVER - Elston, Brown
FS - Prewitt, Burdette
This is off the top of my head with assistance of the post spring Depth Chart. What battles do you see taking place and who do you see moves up and down and fills some of the question marks?
Do you see Logan moving back to the outside or staying at slot? I think the need is greater outside with Moore and Mireles. Someone needs to be a good option besides Treadwell.

I can't wait to go 4 wide.

I'm not a huge fan of him getting the majority of the carries but Freeze likes the fact he has the potential to score every time he gets the ball so he will get his touches.

It's time for a new back to get touches unless Jeff Scott can come out, play hard and prove otherwise.

Looks good to me. Thompson will back up CJ though and Ward will be in the rotation with Whigam and RN. Also, Bryant backs up Denzel while Lewis is the passing MLB so he should back up Mike
The main battle will be at...
RG between Bell, Junen, and Tunsil.
Huskie between Hilton, Connor, and maybe Chief
Safety between Prewitt, Elston, and Chief.
An interesting battle in the second string will be at one corner spot. Collins will lock up one backup role and it will between Coleman, Standifer, Kailo, Burdette (maybe) Hill, and Kamara. With Davis out half the season, this spot has opened up

Jeff ran very hard the second half of the season and for the first time here he's taking the offseason seriously. I would not want to see our offense without him no matter how good our unproven backs are suppose to be

The absolute only reason I care to see Scott is because of the experience. He doesn't really fumble the ball like he use to. (Probably because he runs out of bounds every play) lol

Agreed. Jeff Scott has been a consistent player, even in the years we were complete shite.
I don't get the hate one bit, we leaned on him heavily last year.

I've read that Swindall's backup at center will be Austin Douglas. But Chase Hughes was out with an injury during the spring, so I don't know whether Douglas would legitimately beat Hughes. I've also seen Ben Still listed in the depth chart at center.
Unless Tunsil really shows out, I think Morris would move to tackle if McCray or Burton are injured, and either Tunsil or Golson would move inside. That's how Coach Luke handled things when he bumped Burton down for just a little while during last fall's practice. But that's just my poorly informed guess.
I've read reports that Junen has a difficult time pulling, because he just isn't quick enough. Tunsil or Golson could push for playing time at RG if they are quicker. Coach Luke is all about playing the best five linemen, regardless of a depth chart.
I doubt any TE gets many targets this year. If anything, a TE will probably be used as an extra tackle.

I've heard that we could use a 3-4 some this season. How do y'all think the front seven would line up?

Not sure we have a pure run-stuffing NT for that formation. But I'd guess:
RN HOOKS WARD
CJ MARRY DENZY SHACK
We could use a formation like this to spell Gross bc I don't think Gross fits into a 3 man front.

I don't understand the LB assignments in a 3-4. Are the OLB suppose to be real big so they can put their hand down? Is only one suppose to he that type while the other OLB is more of a speed guy? All I know is Bennett would be the NT. Thats about it

3-4 teams use one of their outside LBs as a pass rusher (ala the infamous Jack linebacker)... they are typically great athletes. I assume a guy like CJ could stand up and rush.
Still, I think a good 3-4 demands a space eater @ NT, but we definitely have some bigger DEs to make it work.

I have always understood the 3 lineman as a NT a DT and a DE. So you have a DE/OLB hybrid then a Mike Wheel and Sam as regular. But you really need a NT to fill 2 defenders for it to work. He doesn't have to get a bunch of tackles but he has to take up 2 blocks and not allow one of the guards to get to the second level.

As far as secondary goes, Chief Brown is a name that keeps popping up this offseason.
I thinks he's definitely the 1st backup at either spot, could easily push a guy like Elston in fall practice.
Woody Hamilton is also making moves on the DL - he's going to get a ton of PT.

I thought I read last year that the reason we were thin early at Rov and FS was that Chief was trying to learn both spots and couldn't master either. The plan I thought for this year was to find which one he was best at and lead him there. But who knows.

Nah, he's leaned them both and could take a starting spot for either. Real close

Looking over the depth chart, the best positions are likely:
WR
LB
DE - I'm already penciling in RN as a contributor
Positions that look solid at starting spots but not very deep at this current juncture:
Any OL
S
QB
DT
RB
Position where we have legit depth concerns:
CB
Positions that are completely fricked:
TE
WR
LB
