I have heard he made his grades, but I also heard he didn't.

I've heard it's more likely he doesn't make it. You never know though

If he keeps up his current pace, with some luck he will be eligible for the spring game.

Next year isn't a option.

I haven't heard anything to suggest he would not make it this year. He still has work to do and we will not know for sure until after fall intersession.

I really don't think at this point it is about grades but moreso about quality credits. You have to have so many in order to play. The plan was laid out for him to follow. So far his grades have been great. Not sure how he did on his finals though.

Why? He is smart enough to know he will make a lot more money getting drafted in 2015 than signing as a FA in 2014.

Has nothing to do with that. He's not taking classes towards a particular degree. He's taking basket weaving and shite to get his GPA to where it needs to be. He has to have so many hours completed towards a degree to graduate and he will not be anywhere close enough for him to play in '14

Serious question. Why didn't Snoop just stay at EMCC through the spring to get his grades in line and then transfer back this summer.

The kid either must hate school or be really really dumb and usually if this is the case he has tutors etc

This. And I don't agree with it at all. You have the chance to get a FREE education and your answer is to just take classes to get eligible to play football one more year.

Where are his parents to say man you are blowing a golden opportunity. I just don't get it.

Who in our athletic department gave this the green light? That is a very Nutt/Boone thing to do. Especially with it being a long shot in the first place.

I mean what could they really do? You cant deny someone from going to school. Even if they have no idea of what they want to major in.(or in this case aren't even attempting to complete a course of study)

What is sad to me is that a parent would allow this to happen.

They can't stop him from going to school, but they can stop him from playing football. That's what this rule is for.

Do you really think that he would go to school his junior and senior year, graduate, and do that all without any motivation of playing in the NFL?

Over 30% of kids don't graduate from college that were on athletic scholarships. Why are you making such a big deal about one?

The staff had three options...
1. Put him on a path to graduate and never play football again

2. Put him on a path that will let him play and put him in the league

3. Or boot him and let him do what we are currently doing at a d2 school and him enter the draft in the spring.

What we are doing is both in the interest of our program and in his interest

Putting him on a path to play (1/2 timetable) 1 year at 5% or give him a chance to play a year 1/2 later at 50% serves our purpose and his. He probably won't get drafted and be done with football forever if he doesn't make his grades this year. Or that is what people are saying in this thread.

If he doesn't make his grades then he cant be on the football team and will no longer be on academic scholarship. He cant workout, cant use the FedEx, cant meet with coaches, cant practice. If he doesn't make his grades by August, his football career at OM would be over. We wouldn't just RS him and let him make his grades for next year and have him for '14. I wish that were the case because we need him more next year, but its not.

I realize that. The flaw in this plan happened in January IMO.

Im not arguing, just don't understand what you would have wanted to happen. What would you have done?

Set him on a path where he would be eligible for 2014. If he didn't want to do it he could be gone.

I guess I don't understand the why we would let him take classes for a long shot of being eligible for 2013 knowing he would be gone either way after the season. Because everyone has been saying since January that it was a super long shot for him to qualify in the first place.
