I know you've gotta be serious about the first part, because nobody else (outside of Vicksburg) would know the name. That's pretty damn cool. I'm not sure why Rev. Vick would like for me to GTFO Vicksburg, though. He was gone long, long before MSU or Ole Miss were founded.

Absolutely a Grandfather way down the line. And yes a Methodist Minister that built and then helped save much of the City from the Yankee burnings.. Glad you know the name too!! That is cool! My sister was named after him and I grasp that heritage. I'm just jiving you on the GTFO out part.. Rock on my friend!

Just a guess based on what I think is the mean age here, but I'd bet I moved here before you were born. 1982. Not that that's important. I'm still not and never will be a native, I get that. But I love it here. I came here in the Army and could not leave.
Anybody with a brain in Vicksburg knows your ancestor's name. He endured a lot, fought for a lot, accomplished a lot. I'm happy to hear one of his descendents has not forgotten.
