Certainly not the most notable in the state when people think of Texas football, they think of......University of Texas.
That's not what he said though.
Texas A&M is, officially, one of two flagship institutions of higher learning in this state.

A&M has more than double the endowment of any school in the SEC and 5X any other public school. We are older, larger, and have a larger research spend than Texas. We are a designated Flagship by the State of Texas. Just stop it with that crap.
Texas has a larger endowment, a better overall football history, and a very small advantage in academic ranking. That's about it.
A&M is also Top 15 in wins, has 21 Conference Titles, and 3 NC's. There are certainly schools in the SEC that can boast more than that but we sure as hell aren't Moo State.

There's already been full research given to the flagship university of each state.
A&M didn't make the cut.
