Th "piney woods" of east Texas are pretty southern, culturally speaking. Not so much anywhere else. I'm from around the Tyler area so I'd say I know it pretty well.

I would mostly agree with most of his assessment. Except most of the Hill Country folks are not hippies as some in Austin are.

having spent a couple years in longview (then a year in dallas and the hill country), I agree with this...

No one ever noticed my accent until i moved out of east texas and into dallas.
