We had to buy out our original (and only) FCS game with McNeese State on Sept 1 just to get an away game in Shreveport with La Tech.

Thanks for the info about the McNeese State game. So aTm has an FCS game scheduled before they ever came into the SEC. I wasn't aware of that. So basically what you're finally admitting to is that aTm was playing FCS teams before they ever came into the SEC, and the issue of playing FCS teams isn't merely a problem with the SEC not following suit with the other conferences.

of course it's not. We had built a 9-game schedule with Arky, SMU, and a directional or FCS school for several years out before coming to the SEC. No one is suggesting the SEC is alone in scheduling patsies. And no one is even getting on Saban for his actual scheduling practices.

RE: our schedule. Upon getting our 2012 schedule, we already needed to fill 1 extra OOC game with only 8 conference games and then we also needed to replace Arky. The only way to do that was to buyout McNeese to get a weekend an opponent would play. Then we had to buy two more home games since La Tech refused to play us at Kyle first on short notice.

I never said playing FCS teams is an SEC issue.

I said playing them LATE in the season is something that seems to only happen in the SEC.

Most teams in other conferences tend to get their OOC out of the way early in the year so its much more likely that you won't have nearly an entire conference all playing an FCS game on the same day.

But when everyone in the SEC saves a spot for a non rivalry OOC game late in the year you are almost always going to have to play an FCS team b/c damn near every other school in the nation will be playing a conference game and is unavailable.
