Sometimes you don't know what you got, till it's gone.
Columbia, SC was a pretty great place to live, a drinking town with a football problem. Around the area, there was a lot of opportunity and access to golf, fish, hunt, boating and in general outdoor activities. If you wanted to go to the beach, you were about 2 hours from several options. If you wanted to go to the mountains, you were about 2 hours from several options. Not far from Charleston, not far from Charlotte and about 3 hours from ATL. Cost of living was really cheap, housing costs per sq ft were low, there was a lot of good food everywhere and the general culture was inviting and relaxed.
If I had to choose another state to live in, it would probably be FL, but I'd get picky on the area...Miami is fun to visit, but I wouldn't want to live there.
