I know our backup QB situation is pathetic but I really hope we're able to redshirt this kid. I think we would get 3 outstanding years out of him.

Yes, we need to redshirt him. We can always remove the redshirt later if needed

Absolutely. Brunetti can run the offense if Bo goes down (not to the degree Bo can, obviously). Let Kincade and Buchanan sit a year and fight for the 2 spot in 2014.

I agree. We need to try to redshirt him if at all possible.

I agree we redshirt both Kincade and Ryan "Money Bags" Buchanan.

ETA: So much agreeing. Where are all of the negative nancy's at?

Breeds horses and drives a Tahoe. He also races said horses and owns a little guy that rides them.

We need to suck it up in Freezes first 2 years and RS as many talented kids as we can to give him a better base from which to operate in the future. Except RN and our OL croots because of depth.

If that means struggling through a 2013 with Brunetti, Mille or hell, even Buch because Bro is... um, unavailable, then that's what we have to do.

I'm going to hijack this thread for a moment, but is anyone else concerned we (Sprivals, Bear Rant, fans in general) are just anointing Kincade as our next starting QB? Our fanbase tends to do it and it never works out well (See Spurlock, Michael, Schaffer, Brent or Snead, Jevan). We should just sit back and see which of the two young QBs wins the job when it's their time.

Fipitan, I agree with you. We need to redshirt them this year to set up for 2014-15. We made through last year with what we've got now, no sense in burning a year of eligibility.

I personally like Buchanan better than Kincade. Having said that I believe Kincade works better in this system. If you Buchanan can take some hits and still get up (He is not terribly slow) that he could easily start due to better throwing aspects.

The issue with Buchanan is experience. Not only is Kincade probably a better fit, but his HS offense was similar and he was super-productive in it, throwing for 3,270 yds, 37 tds to only 8 picks and running for 857 yds, 6.5 ypc and 17 tds as a junior. I have no idea what his senior stats were. He also has a very quick release.

Buchanan played in a run-first, run-second offense. I know he has the arm strength but in the televised games, his accuracy was, in a word, lacking.

ETA: Kincade's stats give me a boner. Hope he doesn't Spurlock us. Although in Spurlock's defense, square peg into round hole.

I've said it several times on here... Miller is huge for the Rebs this year... If he can show that he can go into a game like SE Missouri when we're winning big and just run the offense in its simplest form then we can RS both freshman QBs... Buchanan will transfer from OM after his RS soph season.
