What would y'all suggest that I do while there? I want the local secrets...not the tourist traps.

Don't limit this thread to just restaurants and bars. I want a list of everything super cool and top secret.

If you have any interest in the blues we have the biggest blues museum and there is also Faulkner's home.

It probably counts as touristy but the Faulkner home is worth checking out.

I went to a St. Louis Cardinals game last Friday and decided to cross the Mississippi River to park at a casino in East St. Louis.

The moment we crossed the River, the exit we had to take to get to the casino was recently renamed Obama Avenue.

The funny thing is that Obama Avenue takes you thru the scariest part of East St. Louis. House after house after house are burnt out. Trash everywhere. Graffiti. Burnt out cars. Drug dealers.

Illinois, Obama's state, honored him with a boulevard in East St. Louis.

I find that super ironic.

Since OM plays in Tuscaloosa again this year I plan on making a trip to Oxford for a game and you mother frickers better show me a good time. I'll repay the debt in TTown.

Are the police cool with open container? In TTown you can walk around with beers just dont act an arse and youre fine. I'm fine when drinking beer but if I get into some whiskey I will start speed wobbling.

I wouldn't do it on the square that's for sure. In the grove, as long as it's in a solo cup you're good

Word. I usually put my stuff in a cup when I'm wandering campus on gamedays anyways so it shouldnt be much different.

I assume it'll unlock the front door of every liquor store in town after hours?

A place that doesn't get enough love IMO is Handy Andy. Decent bbq sammiches, best damn burger in Oxford (just really greasy and piping hot off of the griddle - perfect hangover cure), and banana pudding that'll put your grandmother's weak-arse pudding to shame.

Can't leave out Handy Andy- that's fo sure. Mathew mccounahay went there when he was in Oxford. My friend saw him.

I apologize for my terrible spelling.
