Dumb thread is dumb

I know you want to think these are similar issues, but they really aren't.

Smoking and drinking while pregnant leads to lots of problems for the baby after birth. = Bad in everyone's eyes, needlessly impacting babies for the rest of their lives.

The argument for abortion isn't about people hating babies, or wanting them to have a horrible life. It is primarily about whether some situations are right to raise a child in. A 14 year old can't give a baby the same life as a well established family on most occasions. Thus the question of whether abortion is an option for that mother. (Just one of many similar scenario's we could have plugged into this.)

Disclaimer: I don't sit on either side of the Abortion debate, but I am able to see both sides and their arguments.

Point taken but there are also people out there that would love to have a child but are unable to so their only option is to adopt. The waiting lists are so long to adopt an American child that other countries have made a business out of adopting kids to American families.

I understand aborting for medical reasons and in the case of a woman getting pregnant by a rapist but pregnancy from consensual sex when there is no threat to the mother's life should not end in abortion. There are too many other options.
