Obviously nothing concrete (and I obviously know nothing about him as a person), but his history at Memphis and UMass as well as the fact that no one in the history of collegiate athletics has ever legally recruited at the level at which Cal is currently recruiting makes me, well, skeptical.
And yeah, it's true, he's the basketball coach at Kentucky. That certainly doesn't help.

It's really quite simple why players want to play for him.
