FWIW, received 5.4 mil, donated back 4.4 mil. But again, it's accounting math as for what that original 5.4 mil came from and what it was for

I looked at the numbers. It is a 1 million for faculty and 3 million for licensing. The USA Today said nothing of the millions Alabama athletics puts into the general scholarship fund, or for facility improvements University wide.

If nothing else, it clearly shows the haves and the have nots. Only a small % subsidize less than 5% of the AD. There are several in the 5-10 range and then after 50 or schools in total the numbers fall off a cliff and the other 75%, including some BCS schools and 60+ FBS subsidize more than 25% of their program let alone profit.

Looks like there is an Elite 15 or so in earnings, a "big-time program" area fro 16-50 and then the trash left over.

Makes Saban's idea of a class 1 FBS division make a lot of sense. These are businesses with vastly different models.
