Ole Miss has removed Col Reb., From Dixie With Love where students yelled the South Will Rise Again, and Confederate flags from football games. How was it that ANY of those traditions were helpful to Ole Miss? Please explain. I just dont get it.
While Col. Reb and FDWL didnt bother me, I'm just not seeing how people whine over losing those things.
I mean can some of you not see how having a officer of the Confederate army as a mascot might not be a great thing in 2013 or how waving Confederate flags at football games might not be a good thing.
Some of you are arguing a point that you arent even taking into consideration. You are saying that we shouldnt change things because some feelings are hurt. Well why shouldnt we change things because YOUR feelings are hurt??? It goes both ways.

I don't think anybody here would agree with saying there is nothing wrong with confedrate flags or yelling TSWRA. Colonel Reb is obviously much more debated but I don't have an issue with him being gone.
My problem is with the line of reasoning concerning Colonel Reb (HC King) and Dixie.
If we continue to remove things such as these^, then again I ask, where is the medium?

From what I know there was support for removing some of those things. I'm talking about at this juncture where you're trying to remove things that don't have anything to do with racism. It's a slippery slope. I can see where some Ole Miss fans would be concerned that it's turning into an assault on everything associated with the past. Where does the line get drawn? As some have said in this thread, people wanted to go as far as removing the confederate cemetery on campus. I'd say that's a pretty strong extreme and if that's not safe what is?

Because you have to draw the line somewhere. At what point does it become overzealous? Personally, I think you've reached that point and it needs to stop.
