That's because for some people there's not. Until the University is completely stripped of any kind of tradition/association with it's past they won't be happy. Because some people can't separate the two.

People are always going to remember James Meredith and what went down at Ole Miss because it's such a huge part of the Civil Rights Movement nationally. Short of bulldozing the campus to the ground people aren't going to just magically forget that. You can remove all you want and that is still going to be attached to Ole Miss. People are still going to call people who go to Ole Miss racist. Ignorant people, but it's going to happen nonetheless.

The best thing Ole Miss can do at this juncture is to stop pushing the agenda because it's been pushed far enough and all it's doing is opening old wounds. It gives the perception that Ole Miss is still struggling with open racism and that's not true IMO.

I think Ole Miss should continue to evolve. That means addressing things as they happen. That also means asking tough questions about traditions and if those traditions are still beneficial to Ole Miss.
