wow we are gonna struggle next year. I hate to see this happen cause I really like Flip and will miss seeing him next year, but even worse I'm afraid he will now be an undrafted kid who will be bouncing around overseas or in the D league. I can't blame anyone for making that decision but I really believe its the wrong one. Undersized point guards who are below average defensively, and below average shooters typically don't go real high in the draft.

and as for MU what is an honest expectation for where we will be next year? I think talent wise this could be our worst team since the beginning of the Mike Anderson era.

I disagree on the talent level. I think we will be fine.

Good luck to him, but I would rather he stay.

I think we'll be fine talent wise. I look for the team chemistry to be better too. It will be interesting to see if Post and JWIII can contribute immediately. I think we'll still make the tournament and finish in the 3-5 range in the SEC.

I think we'll be fine also. I feel like next season players may help you forget about pressey. At least thats my understanding.

I have similar thoughts. This year's team had plenty of talent, yet never seemed to capitalize and move forward. Maybe less talent next year, will force a concentrated team effort.

Does PP's departure mean we have 3 schollies to offer?

See ya Phil.

Usually in these situations you always hope for the best, but the evil in me is really hoping he just falls on his face, get's drafted 2nd round or later and doesn't make a roster.

Guy was selfish and uncoachable, only cared about his highlight reel and assists total.

That said, inside I was leaning towards wanting him to stay.

I get why so many MU fans feel this way about Flip, but I just can't fully buy into. I def believe he cared, maybe cared too much and really wanted to be the guy to carry us late. Don't think he got enough credit for how easy he made things for others, wouldn't have been in some of those games he struggled in down the stretch without him.

As far as next year I do not expect much from the post players. JW3 has great potential but it is so hard to gauge a HS kid coming into college ball. Post must be read because that is what you expect from a JUCO, but I don't see him being much offensively. Criswell will be solid and improved but not someone you feed in the post. Ross and Brown have big upside but have to get much more consistent, they both were too up and down last year. I really like this Clarkson kid, especially if he doesn't have to run the point too much. And again with Clark its hard to expect a whole lot from a frosh. I really hope we can land one more transfer or somebody who can be in the rotation next year. We have some good pieces but overall it is down. I think UK, Florida, Tennessee and Alabama will all be the class of the SEC next year. Then we hopefully fit in towards the top of that next group with LSU, UGA, Arkansas, Vandy and Ole Miss.

Pretty much right there with you TigerinUGA. I wouldn't say Flip didn't care. He just loses his mind, not realizing his own limitations. I've said it before, he probably has the best court vision I've ever seen. At the same time, I do think a team without Flip may actually have more synergy.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Brown really take off. I thought he was more consistent than Ross and hit some big shots when given the chance. If I remember correctly, he hit a 3 that put the Illinois game pretty much out of reach as they were making a late push. I don't know that we'll get much more out of Ross than what we saw this year. I don't know how you avoid playing Clarkson at the point. Clark might be able to spell him but I don't see Clark stepping in and getting 20+ minutes. Not sure where else you turn.

ya tough to really expect Clark to be more than that as a true freshman. As great as Flip was, he wasn't even much more than that in his first year in Columbia. I agree that Ross pretty much is what he is. Some games he is phenomenal, other games he struggles to get it going. Offensively Brown has a ridiculously high upside, i'm excited to watch him next year. And everything I see and hear about Clarkson is very encouraging, he will do wonders with this team. I just worry about our lack of offensive production in the front court and as of right now our depth in the back court.

Has anyone heard any further rumors of how we might spend one of these scholarships now? We have a chance at some great recruits in 2014 so I doubt we would take more than one, but I would feel better about our shot at the tourney next year with Taric Black from Memphis or someone else who can help a bit right away.

I agree, production from the bigs is a concern. Criswell doesn't play with his back to the basket. Rosberg does, but there's not much production there though I think he will get stronger on the boards. Post is the big question mark.

Another thought on the bigs. When Rob Loe first got to SLU, he was a thin, 6' 11" kid that was nothing but a perimeter player. He put on an addtional 15-20 pounds and while he could still shoot from outside, he developed a decent inside game, making him a difficult matchup. Do you see any chance the same could be done with a 6' 11" Jankovich? Personally, I'm not so sure. While both are 6' 11" and like to shoot the 3, Jank is a lot more athletic than Loe. Loe was more of a stationary set up shooter, which I think made the change easier for him.

I like your comparison and hope you are right but for some reason I struggle to sit Jank really adding bulk and becoming a 4. I like the idea of a stretch 4 at times, but unless the other team is playing a weaker front court player he couldn't be a 4 unless we play zone. He is fairly athletic and skilled though so hopefully he turns into something. Definitely agree that Post is the big question mark. If he comes in solid right away like a JUCO with his offers list would suggest then my view of this team would really improve.
