Interesting stat from yesterday's game....

Simmons Field holds right over 3,000 fans, but only 1,263 were in attendance Friday. That's the smallest SEC crowd LSU has played in front of since only 548 were at Hagan Stadium in Lexington on May 9, 2004.

There was quite a bit of purple & gold on display.

I wouldn't show up to see my team play against the #2 team in the country. They probably expected Mizzou to get drilled 10-1 or some shite like that. Mizzou is actually playing better than I thought. 2-0 against Mizzou, wow.

Haven't looked at the schedule but if y'all play in Athens this year, UGA might eclipse that record for the smallest crowd...

Raining up here now pretty steady.

So LSU brought 1,200 and the Tigers had 63 show up?

That's why I'm amazed that it's shocking for people to get the grasp of that. If you suck nobody will show up, not hard to understand.

What you don't get is that last night's attendance will likely be in the top 10 for the year at Taylor Stadium.
Given the cool weather and it being Spring Break (few students around), the only reason the crowd was that good was because we were playing LSU.
The 2012 average attendance was around 800+.
The poor attendance is due to weather, due to a history of really poor promotion and advertising, and a history of being a team that's not bad but not usually a conference-leading team either (in any conference).
The promotion is improving somewhat. It will take time and money to improve facilities and to improve the team performance. The weather we can't do anything about.

I thought it was shocking too. No need to panic though.

Wasn't there a softball game going on last night, watched the reply against SC. I heard the announcers saying Mizzou even run ruled a few teams this year.
Hmmmm should I watch Mizzou baseball get murdered against the #2 team or watch#6/7 Mizzou softball murder a team, run rule another team.

this is our line when we only pull 5,000 for a conference game.

I have no doubt that interest will pick up as time goes by. I would think your baseball program will be more of a priority going forward just based on conference affiliation.

Funny I'm talkin about baseball because the UGA guy said they'll probably break the lowest attendance in regard to baseball.
Football is a different beast. Hell Mizzou sucks and they avg probably over 65,000 per game.

Have you lived in Branson for awhile? I don't think I ever realized that's where you were located.
