Depends on the kid IMO. I tend to think after what I've seen that those kids with that much raw talent can develop in a hurry in comparison to others. I think Cal gets sorely undervalued on his defensive development of players. Obviously you have the Wiltjers of the world that may never be able to play a lick of defense, but I think that's more the exception than the rule.

It's not like he's taking an unrated kid and turning him into NBA material.

He's definitely had some non-One and Doners that he's coached up. I'm not sure anybody realizes how bad off Darius Miller was when Cal got him. Harrelson was good but he wasn't NBA good by any means.

With that talent he's got even now he should have done much better.

Sometimes you just get a bunch that just doesn't want to buy in. Not much different then the bunch that Donovan had a couple seasons ago (with Kenny Kadji and Co.) who ended up transferring/leaving. I certainly don't think Donovan is any less of a coach because of those guys. It's just going to be up front and center when your guys don't work out coming off a NC.

That is a great example. Maybe I am overstating it, but he was terrible when he got there, yes? By the time he left, he was legit scary. That was remarkable.
