Brent rode Stoops coattails for years, that's why OU wasn't sad to see him go

I don't know who 'they' are, but Stoops reportedly tried very hard to keep him. He was going to do what he had to do get his brother back after the disaster at Arizona

Supposedly they offered to give him a big raise to stay. not something typically associated with getting demoted

Venables is a fire breather. He's played and coached under some of the greats. I don't expect you to say anything decent about Clemson bro But ill just assume that like UGA and plenty of other programs, it takes a year or two for a DC to implement their playbook. Ill be surprised if we don't see a new look with them on defense sooner than later

Yep, you can take that to the bank!

I heard the opposite. They brought back Stoops b/c his HC experiment was a bust, but when he was the DC, the OU Total Defense ranking was in the Top 10 almost every year.

After Stoops left, Coach V only had 3 squads rank in the Top 26 for Total Defense and only 1 Top 10 finish in over 6 years. His last 2 years at OU, Coach V's squad was ranked in the 50's for Total Defense.

Then he goes to clemson and has loads of 4/5 star recruits, not only in the LB and DB positions, but on the DL as well (Goodman, Crawford, Watson and guys behind them,) and he can't do anything better than 63rd in Total Defense.

OU and clemson both run a 4-3 and the blitzing schemes were the only thing that changed, but you should be able to cover that in fall camp and he arrived in the Spring before that.

I think y'all are going to slice up his defense, and they are going to put up some points too. I wouldn't be surprised to see an O/U line set at 60+ for this game.
