Civil rights and the collapse of Birmingham

Civil Rights and the Collapse of Birmingham, Ala.

By John Bennett

Birmingham, Alabama is considered by many to be the birthplace of the civil rights movement. Today, African-Americans in Birmingham benefit from a numerical majority in the population, corresponding majorities in government jobs, and political control of the city. But civil rights won't address what ails the city now..... (read the rest in the link above. It is the home of our SEC Home Office - and the SEC Home Office needs to be moved.)

Awesome link and post. You nailed it. Metro Birmingham is the ONLY city in America where 'white flight' has taken place since the 1960's. Only city in the USA with suburbs.

I agree. They should move the office down to Tuscaloosa were it belongs.

So let me get this straight, you are proposing that the SEC offices need to be moved because there is urban blight, poverty and governmental mismanagement in Birmingham/Jefferson County? Could you direct me to a large, former industrial city that doesn't have urban blight, poverty and governmental mismanagement?

I say those Chinamen in Korea should go ahead and just nuke Birmingham. Imagine... billions of dollars worth of improvements!
