By the way, regarding the stats on players from SEC schools who made it to the Major Leagues, I emailed Sean from Baseball Almanac, and he updated his website to create a page for Sewanee.

It turns out that there were actually two Sewanee Tigers who made it to the Majors: Charlie Dexter (who played on the 1894 Sewanee baseball team) & Frank Ellerbe (who played on the 1915 & 1916 teams before transferring to Wofford).

That makes for 690 Major Leaguers who came from the 17 schools that were at some point part of the SEC, 323 of which made their ML debut since 1989.

323 / 24 years = about 13.5 per year
