Picking a team out of a hat may not be bandwagon, but it's annoying in its own rite. Reminds me of the goth kids in high school who wore black nail polish purely for the sake of being different.

I didn't pick out of a hat, I had reasons. I wanted a team that was currently not very good so I wouldn't ever be accused of being bandwagon, they had to have a cool color scheme, a cool home town, some historical success, and maybe a big name player. At the time, one of the handful of teams that met all of that criteria was the Miami Dolphins in the midst of their 1-15 season in 2007. That's why I'm a dolphins fan (and btw, the following year they won the AFC East).
That's totally different than a 14 year old acting goth to get attention from people for being different.
