to quote EC....
"I am not so much concerned about McGee going to Auburn. He is an Auburn grad."
"What worries me is that while a ADGM is trying to persuade other SEC athletic directors to vote against the NCAA rule change proposals, other schools are moving happily along building up their player personnel offices.
The sad thing is that even if McGarity is successful in his efforts, nothing will change in the way that the aggressive SEC teams run their recruiting offices. The days of coach-centered recruiting efforts are over."
"Coaches are now the closers – the Steele's and McGee's of the world are the setup men."

Also from EC....
"The vote is irrelevant. Alabama started this buildup of player personnel departments long before there is any hint of NCAA deregulation. They (and the other teams who started down this path) are not going to back off even if the NCAA proposals fail. That is the key point."
"Keeping these rules in place changes nothing. Alabama has had its player personnel department in place for two years. The only difference will be that if the proposals are approved the move toward player personnel departments will be accelerated. No rules were being broken by Alabama or Auburn prior to the proposals."
"The only way to rollback these player personnel departments is going to be to write more rules with more details about what can and cannot be done by athletic department personnel. The current atmosphere suggests that NCAA is not about to get into writing multipage job descriptions for athletic department employees in an environment where it cannot even police payoffs and hookers at Miami."

We need to go out and hire Flowers, Conn, and a couple of big name HS coaches from Florida...

Can't beat 'em, join 'em. Recruiting is all about connections and if hiring HS coaches of prime recruiting hotspots for off-field staff is allowed then by all means you have to take advantage of it.

Yup. We definitely need to do this.

I'd take Hal Lamb, HC for Calhoun in a second.
