But how can the nation's best team be the 5th best in the conference? It just doesn't make sense.

It's a power ranking, numbnuts. Those typically are of the "who has done the most lately" variety.
We just swept a top-15 team at home. I don't think we're the best team in the SEC by a long shot, but based off of one weekend, we've been the most impressive.
