Depends on the owner.
My friend back in hs had one and it was the sweetest dog ever. Didn't even bark or growl at me the first time I came up to it. Same with the neighbors dog.

^^^This no dog is aggressive with the proper training and socialization.

they are protective of "their" family which is the reason behind socializing early

Treat it with love and patience, and it will be a very good dog. They can be very protective though of their owner, so it may growl at people knocking at your door or strangers on the street when you are walking. My ex-girlfriend has a Rot and I helped raise it for a few years - sweetest and most loyal dog I ever knew.

Yeah I have had three and all were very good dogs.

Names: Bruno, Brutus, and Harley

Now I have a Yorkie, "He's a big Bama fan."

Are you picking up a 2013 model? The 2012's had alot of problems and recalls due to their tails.

If you don't know anything about rotties you probably shouldn't own one. Especially if you don't know the environment it has been in previously. Treat it good though and just about any dog can be an awesome part of the family.

Also, they require higher than average vet bills over their lifetime.

And being bigger dogs, they eat alot more, so overall cost of ownership isn't for everyone.

Also, no offense, but two weeks ago you were having suicidal thoughts and got brain medication that still probably hasn't settled.

You probably shouldn't become a dog owner just yet.

No offense, but your being a dick. You don't throw that kind of shite in peoples faces.

If anything, a pet could be good for him.

Not while you are still being broken in on mind meds.

And no, a pet might not be good for him.

I'll have you banned from the Georgia board with one more act of insubordination, do you understand me, you son of a bitch? I'll do it before I even tell you why gatorhata9's restaurant suggestions are worthless.

I started one of what, only three threads on the Georgia board that has more than a page of responses. Yall need me, cause yall know I will bring those kinds of threads.

Also, it would be. Have a family member on 12 meds, most being mind altering from PTSD. He got a dog, and I feel like it saved his life. He had more to focus on and take his mind off his problems. Pets really do improve health.

I get the feeling Gcockboi can't afford the responsibility of dog ownership.

This I can stand behind. However, there a few breeds that require a bit more than feeding, watering, walking, picking up poop, etc.

Rotties are one of those. Labs are awesome but they need supervision and tasks or they tear up EVERYTHING. Rotties are the same way, you can't just leave them alone to their own devices. They're super strong and can be a lot to handle.

A Rot is likely going to be my next dog if I don't have to rescue my nephew's beagle from my sister. They're not a dog family and my little niece is terrified of her so they don't let her out of her enclosure or play with her much, it's pretty sad.

Are you sure that "family member" on 12 meds isn't ..... well, um...
