Practice means nothing.

I wasn't very high on AJ after watching the Army AA game until I watched him on Fan Day his freshman year. It was obvious to me that he had an elite arm and great touch. He was making extremely high level throws in 7 on 7s. I saw similar talent level from Morris at Fan Day last year. I'm not predicting he'll be as good as AJ because I don't know about things like decision making, field vision, etc...but I do know that he has the arm to be an SEC QB.

Wasn't there talk about Phillip Sims looking much more impressive in practice than A.J. a few years ago?

Not by me. Some people fell in love with PS's star rating and convinced themselves that PS looked better in practice.

I trust game film more and I don't really see anything that shows me that he's good enough to be a future starter in the SEC. He's certainly not a three-year starter like some people think he will be.

So, after watching game film, what qualities did you conclude that Morris is lacking?
I will say that after watching his film it looked to me like he didn't have much zip on it due to pushing the ball. After seeing him in person, I no longer have that concern.

I would rather take my chances with Cooper Bateman starting as a true sophomore in 2014.

I think it's going to be a very good battle between Morris and Cooper in '14. I could see it going either way.

Cooper Bateman needs to redshirt. IMHO

He will get to compete for the job after AJ is gone, along with the other QBs.

I wouldn't be surprised if the best prep QB doesn't give us high consideration after next year.
