Football Facilities

I was setting here wondering with the Nubs dropping in on some of our recruits, how much does our current football facilities factor into a recruits decission? Do you think our current facilities factored into Collins commit to the nubs or even the Mixon visit to Neb.?
Or, is this just the recruiting game as usual playing out? I know we have stole recruits from Neb. before and some other schools, but is the facilities that much a factor?
If you don't have the facilities others have then what do you sell them on??

I think this is the recruiting game playing out. We've stolen from them in the past, this stuff happens. These recruits should be questioning why Nebraska has come into the picture so late in the game though - the reason should be a concern.
As far as facilities, I think ours are competitive. Not at the top by any means, but competitive. I think our planned facilities upgrades are impressive though, and if that's a big deal to a recruit, those plans should make them take notice.
It's hard to say what's in the mind of teenage boys/young men. Some will probably be all about the wins, others the tradition. Some will be attracted to the overall picture, including academics. Others will be more emotional and be looking for a family atmosphere. I think we have a lot to offer.

Ours are good, but they need to be stepped up even more so. Nebraska's are prob a little better than ours right now because I think they have updated recently.

See, this is what I'm getting at. For Collins as an example, I just wonder what won him over with the Nubs. I know Semo, who really knows, but it would be interesting to know why a kid would thumb his nose at an instate school like Mizzou and go with the Nubs out of state in a lesser conference in my opinion. We've repeatedly put top notch D-players in the NFL the last few years, so we have to be on the NFL's radar. The only reason I can think of is the facilities.

If you are really concerned, I think we will be extremely strong in that category in the long run. The tricky thing about facility upgrades are it needs to be constant. By the time you build it, you need to start planning your next round because it is already outdated.

That's the thing - it could be anything really. Maybe he has friends or a girlfriend who are going to Nebraska. Maybe he clicked with some of the guys he met and didn't at Mizzou. Maybe he just thinks he'll have a better shot at the league there - I disagree, but you never know what's said during the recruitment process that sticks in a kid's head.

They have 5 national championships, are historically and currently a better football program, have better facilities and put as many or more players in the NFL. There could be a million other reasons as well, all besides just facilities, but those jump to my mind.

Mizzou football facilities outside of the stadium are as good as any in the country. It took recent upgrades at Florida to match what MU currently has.
What you are seeing in recruiting is having a staff at the helm that has not shown the ability to compete in the SEC and nobody wants to play for a loser.
