I know I be playing with fire with this one, but considering there are few forums like this one and without a doubt this has to be the most fluid 'SEC Forum', the man's passing has to be acknowledged.
Even though he all but predicted his death after retirement, its a shame he couldn't have just sat back and enjoyed life for 5-10 yrs or so. One thing I've always wondered if he had lived longer was in 1980 when talk started getting louder about his retirement he made the comment around thta time about getting back to 'coaching the old fashion way' or some such statement alluding to coaching a small school such as a D-3 team.Samford in Birmingham had dropped the sport (oddly enough after winning the Stagg Bowl-National Title in their level) in 1971 but was taling about bringing it back --which they did in the fall of '84. I wonder if Bryant would have wanted to coach that team?
Nonetheless, God bless Coach Bryant.

I will acknowledge that many SECr posters worship the man and the thread is worthy

I remember going down to Field level to watch The Bear lean against the goal post prior to LSU games. Has it really been that long since he passed ?

Hard to believe he was only 69 or 70 when he died as he looked very rough.

There will never be another one like him.
I will tip my glass to Coach Bryant today.
